Safe Haven Ranch offers equine-assisted programs that support healing, education, and community connection through intentional, ground-based work with horses. Our programs include clinician-led Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy partnerships, as well as ranch-led experiential programs and community outreach initiatives. Therapy services are provided solely by licensed mental health professionals, while the ranch provides the facility, horses, and trained equine staff.

We hold a strong commitment to ethical horse stewardship. While we are not a sanctuary, we partner with local equine rescues when appropriate and provide lifelong homes for the horses in our care. Safe Haven Ranch does not buy, sell, or recycle horses. Once a horse joins our herd, they are here for life, supported with consistency, respect, and compassion through every stage of their journey.

Equine Assisted Programs & Community Healing

Getting Started

Clinician - Led Therapy Sessions

Safe Haven Ranch partners with licensed mental health professionals offering Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy. Sessions are ground-based and facilitated by the clinician, with the ranch providing the horses, equine-informed staff, and a calm, trauma-informed environment. This model allows clinicians to focus fully on their clients while working alongside horses in a space designed specifically for ethical, regulated equine-assisted work.

Ranch Led Group & Day Programs

In addition to professional partnerships, Safe Haven Ranch offers ranch-led equine programs designed for connection, education, and community support. These experiences are experiential and non-clinical, focusing on emotional awareness, responsibility, communication, and relationship-building through intentional interaction with horses. Programs may be offered as single-day experiences or small group series, depending on season and availability.

Meet The Herd

The horses at Safe Haven Ranch are central to everything we do. Each horse is carefully selected, thoughtfully cared for, and partnered with intentionally in our programs. Interactions are always structured and respectful, offering an opportunity to learn about the horses who support our work, their roles within the herd, and the values that guide how we care for them. These experiences are educational and relationship-based, not riding and not therapy.

Meet The Herd

“We had the opportunity to work with Melissa Bannerman during her time at Canyonview Equestrian College, and we are incredibly grateful for her presence, thoughtfulness, and depth of knowledge. Melissa brought a calm, grounded energy to every session and demonstrated a deep respect for both clients and horses. She was exceptional at facilitating sessions while ensuring the horses were prepared, supported, and safe throughout the work. Her guidance and professionalism made a meaningful impact on both the team and the environment we created for our clients.”

“We have truly loved working with Jenna. She took our daughter under her wing and created a space rooted in consistency, responsibility, and care. At a time when our daughter was struggling with school, being around the horses and having Jenna’s steady presence made a noticeable difference in her confidence and sense of purpose. Jenna brings clear expectations: respect the horses, show up, work hard, and take responsibility. That approach, paired with authentic care, has been incredibly impactful for our family, and we are deeply grateful.”
