Help Build

Safe Haven Ranch

Safe Haven Ranch is a future home for equine-assisted healing, retreats, youth programs, and community gatherings.

We are currently in the fundraising and planning phase, working to acquire land and build the core infrastructure needed to bring this vision to life.

Our All In Fundraising Goal: 12.5 Million

This initial fundraising goal allows us to secure the land, complete essential permitting, and build the foundational facilities required to open Safe Haven Ranch and begin serving the community.

Land Acquisition | $6,000,000

Securing the property that will become the permanent home of Safe Haven Ranch. This includes sufficient acreage for horses, lodging, program facilities, and long-term growth.

We are currently pursuing a highly aligned property in Powell Butte, Oregon. The site offers approximately 37 acres with existing cabins, a conference-style gathering space, a chapel, established walkways, and open pasture. The land provides the foundation needed to develop Safe Haven Ranch’s equine programs, retreats, and community offerings in one cohesive setting.

Where is the Money Going?

Equine Programs & Facilities | $4,000,000

This funding supports the development of Safe Haven Ranch’s equine facilities, thoughtfully designed to serve equine-assisted healing, education, and retreat programming.

We plan to partner with a trusted local builder to construct a covered equine facility with approximately 10 attached stalls and an arena space designed for both mounted and unmounted work. This space will allow staff and facilitators to work with women, men, and children through ground-based sessions, relational horsemanship, and in-saddle experiences when appropriate.

While stalls will be available for medical care, training, or transitional needs, the horses who call Safe Haven Ranch home will primarily live outdoors in a herd environment, reflecting our commitment to ethical horse care, natural living, and relational healing.

Funding also supports the conversion or construction of an additional barn to house other ranch animals, including goats, sheep, donkeys, ducks, and chickens. While horses will anchor the equine-assisted programs, smaller livestock play an important therapeutic role. Goats, in particular, bring playfulness, curiosity, and connection, often reaching people in ways that feel accessible and disarming.

Together, these facilities create a balanced, intentional environment where animals are cared for with dignity and serve as partners in healing, learning, and growth.

In addition to the equestrian facility, funding supports the development of a covered ropes and skills-based challenge course. This space will be used primarily for youth programs and group development experiences, offering a structured environment for building confidence, communication, trust, and life skills.

Together, these improvements ensure that Safe Haven Ranch remains a place of depth over volume, prioritizing meaningful experience, safety, and intentional programming over scale.

Lodging for Retreats & Programs | $500,000

While the property includes existing cabin accommodations, this funding supports intentional renovations to create warm, comfortable spaces designed for rest, reflection, and privacy.

Rather than maximizing capacity, Safe Haven Ranch is purposefully designed for small, intimate groups. Renovations will reduce overall overnight capacity from large-scale lodging to approximately 20 guests or fewer, allowing retreats and programs to remain focused, quiet, and deeply relational.

These lodging spaces will support:

  • Healing retreats and equine-assisted programs

  • Small group intensives and facilitated gatherings

  • Organizations seeking quiet, distraction-free environments

Stewardship & Land Care | $500,000

This portion of the project focuses on caring for the land in a way that supports animal welfare, environmental responsibility, and the long-term health of the property.

Funding supports the development of:

  • Safe, well-planned pastures and fencing designed to protect animals and encourage natural movement

  • Hay storage and feed infrastructure to ensure consistent, high-quality care for livestock

  • Gardens and greenhouse spaces that support nourishment, education, and seasonal self-sufficiency

  • Designated areas for manure management and composting, helping return nutrients to the land responsibly

Every element of land care is approached with long-term sustainability in mind. The goal is to steward the property in a way that allows the land, animals, and people to thrive together, now and for generations to come.

Program Launch & Operations | 1,500,000

This portion of the fundraising effort supports the first two years of operating costs, providing the stability needed to responsibly launch Safe Haven Ranch and establish strong, lasting programs.

Funding covers:

  • Staffing for a core team of three, responsible for program delivery, animal care, and day-to-day operations

  • Care and upkeep of the horses and ranch animals, including feed, veterinary care, and farrier services

  • Essential operational expenses required to run the facility safely and effectively

By funding these initial years, Safe Haven Ranch is able to open with intention rather than urgency. This runway allows staff to focus fully on building high-quality programs, forming community partnerships, and creating systems that support long-term sustainability.

This investment ensures the ranch is not only built, but built to last.

Bringing the Vision to Life

Safe Haven Ranch is entering a defining season. Beginning February 2026, we plan to formally pursue the purchase of land and begin the process of turning this long-held vision into reality. Our goal is to raise the necessary funds over the following six months, allowing us to secure the property by Fall 2026.

Once acquired, we will move into renovation and construction, including lodging improvements, equine facilities, and essential infrastructure. With steady progress, our hope is to open the gates of Safe Haven Ranch and launch initial programs by Spring 2027.

These are ambitious goals, and they are held with intention and care. We believe the scale of this vision is worthy of bold faith, thoughtful planning, and collective effort.

Safe Haven Ranch is being built to serve people in seasons of transition. In time, this place is intended to grow into a refuge for individuals and families who need stability, support, and space to regroup, including those facing crisis, uncertainty, or life disruption. Our long-term hope is to create a center that offers safety, dignity, and the tools needed to step forward with confidence.

Your support helps build more than buildings. It helps establish a self-sustaining nonprofit, one designed not to rely endlessly on fundraising, but to steward resources wisely, generate ongoing support through programming, and give back to the community many times over.

This is a place to land, to heal, and to prepare for what comes next. With your partnership, Safe Haven Ranch can become a lasting force for good, rooted in care, integrity, and hope.
