Meet the Four-Legged Partners of Safe Haven Ranch
-

Ranger
Ranger is a sensitive, thoughtful member of our herd who values space and steady energy. While he prefers freedom and calm over structure, spending time with him in the arena reveals a gentle, curious nature and a deep capacity for connection. Ranger reminds us that honoring individuality is essential to building trust, both with horses and with each other.

Buttercup
Buttercup is a 17-hand Belgian Draft horse and a true gentle giant. Known for her calm strength and playful curiosity, she brings a steady, reassuring presence to the herd. Buttercup is comfortable supporting a wide range of participants and is thoughtfully included in programs when her temperament and energy are well suited. She is Jenna’s personal horse and a cherished part of the Safe Haven Ranch herd.
-

Buster
Buster is a retired cutting horse with a big heart and an easygoing nature. Once a competitive athlete, he now enjoys a quieter pace and is known for his smooth presence and undeniable charm. Often found roaming the ranch alongside Jenna and the goats, Buster brings warmth, curiosity, and a sense of ease wherever he goes.

Tuff
Tuff came to us as a generous gift from a wonderful woman who simply wanted her 21-year-old boy, who still has so much life and love to give, to continue being a blessing to others. We are incredibly grateful she trusted us with him.
Tuff has the sweetest, gentlest soul. When you spend time around him, something shifts. Your breathing slows, the noise in your mind quiets, and you feel yourself settling into the present moment. He carries the calm wisdom of an old soul, the kind that reminds you to pause, breathe, and simply enjoy being.

Gertie, Oreo, and Daisy Mae
No ranch is complete without a little mischief and personality, and that’s exactly what Gertie, Oreo, and Daisy Mae bring to the herd. These three are full of charm, curiosity, and just enough sass to keep things interesting.
Whether they’re following you around the pasture, hoping for a snack, or simply soaking up attention, they have a way of making people smile the moment they arrive. Goats have a special gift for lightening the mood, reminding us not to take life too seriously, and bringing a little laughter into the day.
Our Approach to Horses
Safe Haven Ranch is not an active horse sanctuary. Instead, we partner with several incredible local equine rescues and sanctuaries that are already doing important work in rehabilitation and long-term sanctuary care.
Our herd is made up primarily of horses that came from loving homes where their owners simply could no longer keep them, or where the horse’s owner wanted to see them continue to be used, loved, and appreciated in their later years.
Because our horses participate in Equine Assisted Programs and trail riding experiences, each horse must be a good fit for the work we do. We are occasionally open to welcoming additional horses into the program if they align with our needs and mission.
One thing we take very seriously is our commitment to forever homes. The average horse changes hands up to 11 times in their lifetime. At Safe Haven Ranch, we strive to be the last stop. Once a horse is accepted into our herd, they become part of the ranch family for life. For that reason, our intake process is thoughtful and selective.
We are always happy to have conversations with owners who are looking for a meaningful next chapter for their horse. Horses with ranch experience, retired cutting horses, drafts, and kind, steady horses suitable for riding and therapy work are often wonderful fits for our programs. We also remain committed to collaborating with local rescues when there are opportunities to help horses transition out of unsafe or uncertain situations and into more stable environments.
At the heart of it all, our goal is simple: to provide horses with purpose, partnership, and a place where they are valued for the rest of their lives.
