Some women don’t need another program. They need a place to land.
The Launch Program at Safe Haven Ranch is a one-year residential experience for young women rebuilding their lives after trauma, abuse, or crisis—women who are ready for something different, but don’t yet have a safe place to begin.
Here, the first thing we offer is stability. A private room. A warm meal. A safe place to sleep. Space to breathe. From there, life begins to take shape again.
Days are rooted in simple, meaningful rhythm—caring for horses, contributing to the ranch, showing up for responsibilities, and slowly rebuilding confidence through action. Residents are supported as they step back into the world, working toward employment, education, and long-term independence, all while surrounded by a community of women walking a similar path.
This is not a clinical or institutional program. It is a place to rest, rebuild, and begin again.
The Launch Program
What the Launch Program Looks Like
The Launch Program is a one-year residential experience where participants live on the ranch while rebuilding stability, developing life skills, and preparing for their next chapter.
Residents become part of the daily rhythm of ranch life while working toward independence, confidence, and long-term success.
While living at Safe Haven Ranch, residents will:
Receive three daily meals and safe, stable housing
Participate in the daily rhythm of a working ranch
Gain practical life skills that support long-term independence
Contribute to the ranch community through meaningful work
Continue participating in recovery programs, counseling, or partner nonprofit services
Safe Haven Ranch is not intended to replace existing recovery or counseling programs. Instead, the Launch Program works alongside trusted partners, providing a safe and supportive environment where residents can continue their progress while rebuilding their lives.
Life on the Ranch
Residents play an active role in the daily operation of Safe Haven Ranch while developing valuable work experience and life skills.
This may include:
Caring for horses and ranch animals
Supporting trail ride experiences
Working in ranch gardens
Land stewardship and ranch projects
Preparing spaces for community programs and events
Housekeeping and overall property care
Participating in the working rhythm of the ranch helps residents build confidence, responsibility, and a sense of purpose while reconnecting with land, animals, and community.
Preparing for the Next Chapter
Throughout the program, residents are supported in preparing for life beyond the ranch.
This may include:
Resume building and job preparation
Interview practice and career guidance
Assistance with employment or education opportunities
Support with transportation, clothing, and personal needs
Building healthy routines and daily structure
The goal of the Launch Program is for each resident to leave with real tools for independence, long-term stability, and a clear path forward.
The Sponsorship Model
Each resident in the Launch Program is supported through a community sponsorship model totaling $18,000 per year.
This sponsorship directly funds housing, meals, mentorship, and the structure that makes the program possible.
The monthly sponsorship is thoughtfully allocated to support both immediate needs and long-term independence:
$500 toward housing and meals
$500 for personal expenses and essentials
$500 placed into a savings account for the resident
Over the course of the year, this savings grows into a meaningful financial foundation.
When residents graduate, they leave not only with new skills and support systems, but with real savings to help secure housing, transportation, education, or their next step forward.
Each sponsorship represents one life fully supported for one year!
Who the Launch Program Is Designed For
The Launch Program is designed for young women who are ready to rebuild their lives after trauma, crisis, recovery, or major life transition.
This program is not intended as an emergency shelter or short-term solution.
Instead, it serves as a next step for women who have already begun their journey and are ready to continue rebuilding their lives with stability, structure, and community support.
Safe Haven Ranch works closely with partner nonprofits and community organizations to identify residents who are ready for this next step.
Why This Program Matters
For many women, leaving abuse, trafficking, or crisis is one of the hardest things they will ever do. And once they’ve made it out, they are left to figure out what comes next—often without a safe place to land. Once emergency services or short-term programs end, there are very few safe, stable places to continue rebuilding. Too often, women are forced to return to unsafe environments or face housing instability simply because there are no long-term options available.
In Central Oregon, the need is real and growing.
More than 2,100 individuals are experiencing homelessness across the region
Over 1,400 of those individuals are living without shelter
Homelessness has continued to rise as housing costs increase
At the same time, systems designed to support survivors are stretched beyond capacity.
In Oregon, domestic violence programs served 1,913 survivors in a single day, while over 1,200 requests for help went unmet due to lack of resources
Organizations like Saving Grace provide critical emergency shelter and support for survivors in Central Oregon. However, long-term transitional housing options remain extremely limited. As a result, many women who do the hard work of leaving unsafe situations are left with nowhere stable to go next.
Safe Haven Ranch exists to fill this gap. Instead of sending women back into instability, the Launch Program provides a place where they can continue healing while building the practical skills needed for independence.
At the ranch, residents experience something many have not had in a long time:
stability, community, and meaningful responsibility.
The rhythm of ranch life provides structure. Caring for animals builds patience and trust. Working the land creates confidence. Daily responsibilities create momentum. Residents see the results of their efforts each day—as animals are cared for, land is stewarded, and the ranch operates through shared responsibility.
Ranch life is not easy. It requires commitment, accountability, and consistency. But it is through this structure that confidence, discipline, and a renewed sense of purpose begin to take hold.
The Launch Program is not simply about providing housing. It is about helping women build a strong foundation for the life they are stepping into next. Space is intentionally limited so each resident receives the mentorship, structure, and support needed to succeed.
A Place to Begin Again
Safe Haven Ranch was created for those who need a moment to breathe, a place to rebuild, and a community that believes in their future. Here, healing happens through connection to the land, meaningful work, and the quiet strength of our animals. Our mission is simple: provide a safe haven where people can rediscover their confidence, rebuild their lives, and step forward with hope.
How the Community Can Help
The Launch Program is built on the belief that community support changes lives. There are many ways individuals, businesses, and organizations can help residents rebuild their future at Safe Haven Ranch. Whether through financial sponsorship, sharing knowledge, volunteering time, or donating essential items, every contribution helps create a place where people can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
→ Sponsor a Resident
Each participant in the Launch Program is supported through a community sponsorship model totaling $18,000 for the year.
This sponsorship helps provide housing, meals, mentorship, and the resources needed for residents to rebuild their lives.
Part of each monthly sponsorship also goes into a personal savings account for the resident so that when they complete the program, they leave with financial support to help secure housing, transportation, or education.
Your support helps provide more than shelter. It helps create a real path forward.
→ Share Your Skills
One of the most powerful ways to give back is by sharing your knowledge.
We welcome volunteers who would like to teach workshops that help residents build practical life skills and confidence.
Examples could include:
Resume building and job interview preparation
Financial literacy and budgeting
Parenting and family support skills
Cooking, sewing, or homesteading skills
Gardening and food preservation
Horse training and horsemanship
Entrepreneurship or career guidance
These life lessons can create lasting change and open doors to new opportunities.
→ Volunteer Your Time
Volunteers play an important role in helping Safe Haven Ranch operate and grow.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
• Helping with ranch projects or gardens
• Supporting events and community programs
• Assisting with animals and daily ranch tasks
• Helping organize donations and supplies
Giving your time helps create a stronger community for everyone involved.
→ Donate to the “Share The Love” Closet
Safe Haven Ranch is building a Share the Love Closet, a resource space where residents can access essential items as they rebuild their lives.
This closet will allow residents to “shop” for items they need as they prepare for work, school, or independent living.
Items that are especially helpful include:
• Clothing for men, women, and children
• Professional clothing for job interviews
• Baby supplies and children's items
• Personal hygiene products
• Bedding and household items
• School supplies
• Laptops, printers, and office equipment
These items help residents move forward with dignity and confidence as they begin their next chapter.
→ Invest in the Future
Sometimes the most powerful gift is simply believing in someone's potential. Through financial support, volunteering, teaching a skill, or donating essential items, the community helps create a place where individuals can rebuild their lives and move forward with confidence.
Together, we can create a safe haven where people are not defined by their past, but empowered to build their future.
Safe Haven Ranch is more than a place. It is a living community where land, animals, and people come together to heal, grow, and rebuild. Built on the belief that both people and animals deserve a safe place to land, the ranch creates opportunities for connection, meaningful work, and second chances. Through ranch life, equine programs, and community gatherings, we steward the land, care for animals, and empower individuals to rebuild their lives and move forward with strength and hope.
